Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping is the largest provider of concrete pumping and material placement services in the United States. With more than 34 years of experience, Brundage-Bone’s vast experience and technical expertise sets it apart from the competition.
Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping provides material placement solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. The company’s website states, “We provide contractors with the most effective pumping equipment specific to their needs, by the industry’s best trained operators.”
Brundage-Bone has a comprehensive fleet of nearly 500 vehicles and other equipment available for hourly rental at competitive rates. The company’s fleet includes Telescoping Pumps, Telebelt Conveyors, Pumps with One-Side Outriggers, Pumps with Low Unfolding Heights, Caisson Jib Booms, Mini-Placers, Line Dragons, Detachable Placing Booms, Laser Screeds, and Placing Boom Mounting Configurations.
In addition, Brundage-Bone’s parts department sells a variety of parts and equipment, ranging from small replacement parts to entire pump trucks, with an emphasis on providing the best value for customers.
Brundage-Bone was founded in 1983 by Jack Brundage and Dale Bone, and the Denver-based company has grown exponentially over the past 34 years. In 1984, less than a year after the company’s founding, it expanded into the Dallas, TX market. The company continued to grow through a series of successful acquisitions, and by 1994 Brundage-Bone had become the largest concrete pumping company in the U.S. With locations in 20 states across the country, Brundage-Bone dominates the concrete and material placement market.
In 2016, Brundage-Bone entered the market in the U.K. when it acquired Camfaud, South Coast, and Premier Concrete Pumping, increasing the company’s size by 25 percent. “Through the negotiations and diligence phase [of the acquisition process] we found these businesses to be very well run, with great management teams and technical expertise that matches very well with ours,” Brundage-Bone President and CEO Bruce F. Young said in a recent letter to stakeholders. “[These companies] are known for excellent customer service, technical excellence across a multitude of complex concrete pumping applications and strong leadership teams.”
Looking to the future, Brundage-Bone plans to continue to expand through strategic acquisitions, especially in the southern U.S. The company is constantly seeking opportunities for growth. It now has 750 employees in the U.S. and 250 in the U.K., and is always looking for quality field operators to join the company.
With 34 years of experience and operations in 75 cities, the Brundage-Bone team has unmatched experience and technical expertise. The company’s knowledgeable, experienced staff sets it apart from others in the industry. Operators are trained to extremely high standards, ensuring high-quality service on any kind of project, and Brundage-Bone is committed to providing reliable, efficient service.
Among Brundage-Bone’s top talent is CFO Iain Humphries. Humphries joined the company in December 2016, bringing 20 years of experience in finance and management of construction-related industries. “His leadership abilities and international financial experience will be instrumental in implementing Brundage-Bone’s growth strategy,” said Bruce Young.
In addition to its breadth of expertise, a commitment to safety is a hallmark of Brundage-Bone’s work. The company officially launched its “Believe in Zero” campaign to promote job site safety in 2015. The company’s website describes the campaign: “We believe that we can eliminate accidents, incidents, and safety concerns by being more aware of the situations that surround us and those who are within the vicinity.” Brundage-Bone is currently the only concrete pumping company with membership in the National Safety Council, and all operators and supervisors receive full OSHA training. The company also maintains a full-time safety department that provides safety training at each of its locations.
In recent years, Brundage-Bone has worked on a number of high-profile projects around the country. The company recently completed work on the Ford Theater, an outdoor amphitheater in Hollywood Hills, California. The site’s location in a canyon is inaccessible to mixer trucks, making the job especially challenging, but Brundage-Bone enthusiastically took on the challenge, pumping the concrete through a series of tubes to reach the job site.
Brundage-Bone also laid the foundation for the University of Tennessee’s new Student Union facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. Here, the company pumped 2,400 yards of concrete using 56 metre, 58 metre, and 61 metre pumps. In 2016, the company partnered with Massman Construction on the replacement of the Broadway Bridge in Little Rock, Arkansas. Spanning more than a half-mile, the bridge is constructed of concrete and steel; Brundage-Bone laid over 1,000 yards of concrete over a period of 21 months.
In addition to concrete placement, Brundage-Bone also offers concrete waste disposal services through its subsidiary, Eco-Pan. Launched in 2003, Eco-Pan provides waste disposal services at the job site to complement Brundage-Bone’s concrete placement services. Eco-Pan provides washout pans for washout and clean-up of concrete waste at the job site, with removal service to transport full washout pans to an approved recycling facility. Appropriate disposal of concrete waste is critical in maintaining EPA compliance and minimizing environmental fines, and Eco-Pan’s cost-effective disposal solutions reduce the time and labor associated with clean-up. The company has grown considerably since 2003 and now has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
With a cutting-edge fleet of vehicles and equipment, an outstanding safety program, and a commitment to customer service, Brundage-Bone continues to grow its concrete pumping network throughout the United States and beyond.
