Construction employment climbs in majority of states

Between August 2023 and 2024, construction employment has climbed year-over-year in 39 states, with only 10 states and D.C. losing jobs, while Georgia remained unchanged.

The greatest number of jobs were added in Texas (36,600), Florida (36,200), Michigan (15,100) and Nevada (12,700). When it comes to percentage, Alaska saw the greatest gain with 3,100 jobs or 17.8 percent, followed by Hawaii with 4,700 jobs or 12.4 percent. Meanwhile, Maryland experienced the greatest losses, down 4,800 jobs, as did New York with 4,700 jobs and Oregon with 2,400 jobs lost.
