Hecate Energy has selected Bechtel as the contractor designated to lead the way on the design and construction of its Sunfish Solar 2 solar farm in Calhoun County, Michigan, which will be one of the state’s largest solar facilities upon completion.
The project value is estimated at $453 million and will be the first project in Hecate’s one-gigawatt development on the 1,300-acre property. Once completed, it will generate enough energy to power about 183,500 homes in the state and will offset nearly 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. This project will support the state in its mission to generate half of its energy from renewables by 2030.
