CarbiCrete expands into Ontario

CarbiCrete, a leader in decarbonized carbon-negative concrete, will break into the Ontario market for the first time after signing a licensing agreement with Canal Block, a masonry producer that will commence production at its Port Colborne, Ontario facility in the beginning of 2025.

Before that can happen, however, the facility will need to be equipped with CarbiCrete’s curing system, which is possible thanks to $3 million in NGen funding. This patented process eliminates emissions from the concrete-making process, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by replacing cement with industrial byproducts that mineralize CO2 into the concrete, where it is permanently stored.

The process is being overseen by 3Degrees, a leading climate solutions provider, who entered into an agreement with CarbiCrete earlier this year to qualify and verify the reductions derived from the use of its process, in addition to managing the sale of the resulting carbon credits.
